SENSORY PROCESSING CHALLENGES
Some examples of why your child could benefit from an Occupational Therapy assessment:
-
seeks out sensations: stuffing too much food in mouth at one time, never sits still/always moving
-
difficulty with interoceptive senses: struggles to toilet train, does not notice when they are too hot or too cold
-
always moving, crashing in to things, jumping, touching, bumping, draping their body over yours
-
heightened or over-responsive reaction to sound, touch, movement, or taste
-
under responsive to certain sensations: high tolerance to pain or a poor sense of danger, often misses information or does not notice the information, does not notice when they cut themselves
-
often distracted by visual or auditory stimuli
-
struggles to regulate emotions
